Yojimbo 1.1 Release Notes
This page documents all feature enhancements and bug fixes included in the Yojimbo 1.1 update.
For information on changes made in previous versions of Yojimbo, please see the release notes archive.
You can access Yojimbo's online help by choosing "Yojimbo Help" from the Help menu.
Additions
You can open a bookmark in your preferred browser by clicking the "open link" button in the item list next to its name. You can open multiple selected bookmarks by typing "Command-right-arrow" when the items list has keyboard focus.
Hold down the Command key while dragging to temporarily reverse your prefs option for creating bookmarks or web archives.
You can now create Yojimbo items with AppleScript. Drop Yojimbo on Script Editor to see the available options.
Streamlined the text view contextual menu and added "Remove Formatting" to the menu.

Search Field Improvements
The search term is broken into words, and an AND search is performed on those words (a la iTunes and Mail)
The toolbar now displays search statistics a la iTunes and Mail
Search scope is remembered across application launches
Searches with a scope of "All" now include additional fields of bookmarks, passwords and serial numbers which are not separately searchable
Dragging to the items list is now equivalent to (and shorthand for) dragging to the selected collection in the collections list. You can only drag items to the list that are also acceptable to the collection (that is, you cannot drag to the items list of the Trash collection or any other smart collection).
When printing web archives you can now control (via the Yojimbo panel of the printing sheet) whether backgrounds are printed or not.
There is now a "Buy Yojimbo..." command on the application menu when running in demo mode.
Changes
Updated the appearance to use thin splitters, and the Unified toolbar.
Several improvements to the syncing experience. Of particular note, Yojimbo no longer needs to be running to synchronize with your .Mac account.
The Quick Input Panel no longer automatically overwrites the previous contents with the clipboard. When there is a conflict between what is on the clipboard and what is in the window (if the contents of the window have not been used to create an item) the window content is preserved. A banner appears alerting you to the fact. At this point you can choose to AutoFill from the clipboard.
Added descriptive comments to the built-in smart collections.
Improved the appearance/readability of selected items in the collections list.
Improvements to the startup experience for non-.Mac users
If there is no stored sort order for the items list, it is now sorted by date modified.
Several improvements to startup performance, particularly if starting up using the example database.
The items list now stays sorted as edits are made.
Wide images embedded in notes are scaled to fit the horizontal width of the note if necessary.
The email address field in the serial number module in the Quick Input Panel and in the serial number editor is now a combo box so you can quickly select from your configured email address in your "Me" address book card. This is useful if the address you registered the software to isn't the default one. (Autocomplete is enabled.)
Added additional support-related items on the Help menu.
Added a visual indication to the demo dialog of the number of days remaining.
Fixes
Worked around a WebKit bug where when loading web archives it would request the resource on the network, and if the network was down, or a sub-resource was unavailable, it would not load, or if a sub-resource was changed on the network, the newer version from the network would load, instead of using the data present in the web archive.
(This also has the side effect of improving performance when loading web archives since unnecessary network requests are avoided.)
Fixed a bug where the location and account values were transposed when exporting password items.
When a single image is selected in a text view, dragging or copying will place that image on the clipboard.
You can now drag text attachments out of notes back into the Finder.
When removing items from a collection, or moving items from a collection to the trash, the next item in the list is selected when the operation is complete.
Fixed a bug where deleting the first item in the list with the delete key didn't select the "next" item after completing the operation.
Fixed a bug where an in-progress edit (for example on an item's name) would be lost if you toggled the flagged state or changed the label of an item.
Fixed a bug where objects deleted in another context (syncing, for example) wouldn't disappear immediately from smart collections in the main window.
Worked around a PDFKit problem where the scroll position of the view wasn't reset when loading a new PDFDocument.
Fixed a bug where the column configuration of the items list wasn't correctly saved in certain situations.
When exporting notes as plain text documents:
If the note can be represented as ASCII, it is.
Otherwise, the note is written as UTF-8 *with* a BOM (Yojimbo 1.0 did not include the BOM.)
Fixed a bug where only the main frame of frameset pages in web archives was indexed for searching. (Affected web archives must be exported and re-imported in order for their index representation to be updated.)
Fixed a bug where the Drop Dock didn't refresh its group list after collections were added/removed/changed by a sync.
Fixed a bug which would cause the main window to pop to the front when using the "Save PDF in Yojimbo" service.
Yojimbo now correctly handles password-protected PDFs.
Fixed a bug where importing PDFs would cause the PDF bookmarks to be lost. (PDFs afflicted by this will need to be re-imported.)
Fixed a bug where if you deleted the pre-filled values for the a serial number entry in the Quick Input Panel, they would be added to the item anyway.
Fixed a bug where dragging certain webloc clippings to the drop dock or collections list would incorrectly create notes instead of bookmarks/web archives.
Worked around an NSPasteboard limitation which caused items 2 through N of multi-item webloc drags to be ignored.
Dragging multiple bookmarks from Safari no longer ignores items 2 through N in the drag.
Fixed a bug where an assertion would fire in certain situations after selecting then immediately deleting an item.
Corrected a wording error in the "Open Yojimbo automatically..." explanatory text in the hotkey preference pane.
Fixed the off-by-4 minimum height bug in the Quick Input Panel.
Fixed a bug where changing the label name/color in the preferences could leave a the display stale on the label popup in the Inspector panel.
Made the text field order consistent between the password Quick Input Panel module and the password editor.
Removing the search field from the main toolbar clears the items list filter predicate.
The "Find Items" command is disabled if the toolbar is in label-only mode.
Numerous workarounds in the interest of making web archives more reliable and stable.
Worked around a bug where you couldn't paste from Dictionary because it put bogus data on the pasteboard.
Fixed a bug where drag types were not being handled in the preferred order. Dragging a PDF attachment from Apple Mail incorrectly created a note as a result.
Fixed a problem where the "Activate Yojimbo" hot key could leave the Yojimbo window behind the previously active application's front window if Yojimbo was hidden.
