Yojimbo 1.2 Release Notes
This page documents all feature enhancements and bug fixes included in the Yojimbo 1.2 update.
For information on changes made in previous versions of Yojimbo, please see the release notes archive.
You can access Yojimbo's online help by choosing "Yojimbo Help" from the Help menu.
Additions
New users will be given the option to watch a Quick Start movie, which demonstrates several basic features of Yojimbo. If you are a current user, you can watch the movie by choosing "Quick Start Movie" from the Help menu.
New databases are populated with a "Getting Started" document, which gives a crash-course on the features and usage of Yojimbo. The "Yojimbo Getting Started" menu in the Help menu will display a similar, but not identical document.
When possible/appropriate, copying/dragging items will place additional representations on the pasteboard (text, rich text) for use in other applications.
There is a new command "Copy Item Link" available on the Edit menu and the contextual menu when you select one or more items. Choosing this command will create a URL link which you can use to jump to the selected item(s) from another application (iCal appointment comments, for example), or within a Yojimbo note to refer to another item.
Yojimbo now has support for Bookmarklets which provide you the option to create bookmarks or web archives in Yojimbo via a single click within your web browser. (Search for "bookmarklet" in Yojimbo's online help for installation instructions or more information.)
When exporting items as simple tagged text files (i.e. passwords and serial numbers), comments are now included in the item data.
Yojimbo will highlight the search terms in the content of notes, pdf archives and web archives in the following situations:
The item is being displayed in the main viewer, a search filter is active, and the search scope includes contents.
An item is opened from the main viewer when a search filter is active whose search scope includes item contents.
An item is opened as the result of a Spotlight search.
Changes
Changed title of the print service item from "Save PDF in Yojimbo" to "Save PDF to Yojimbo".
Yojimbo now has an integrated crash reporter which you can use to directly send us crash logs.
Fixed up the sync schema to enable it to pass the sync schema validator tool.
The scripting verb "import" will now return a single item, or a list of items for the scripter's convenience (rather than a list of 1, as was previously returned).
Bookmarks are now exported as URL clipping files.
Menu items/toolbar buttons which affect PDF display options are now enabled whether or not the PDF view has keyboard focus.
Toggling "Check Spelling as You Type" in a note editor will cause that setting to stick for note editors created after the change, as well as across application launches.
Duplicating an object now retains its label.
When importing .webloc clippings, the filename will be used as the item name when the URL name isn't present in the clipping. (Previously, the URL was used.)
The preference pane transitions are now animated with a fade out/in effect.
Fixes
Fixed a bug where your Yojimbo password would be requested for each password item being exported instead of using the cached key during batch operations.
Fixed a bug where in certain situations (such as opening a password into a standalone window) the password editor would show/copy a blank password.
Fixed a bug where the Trash's icon wasn't immediately updated when items were added to or removed from the Trash if counts were turned off in the collections list.
Fixed a bug where interactive search (via the Find panel) in Web Archives didn't correctly search iframe or frameset pages.
Fixed a bug which prevented drag and drop addition of messages from Microsoft Entourage.
Fixed a bug where adding a new label discarded an in progress edit on an existing label name.
Fixed a bug where the string content of web archives wasn't initially indexed with spotlight if the web archive came from a .webarchive file or the sample data .
Added an ellipses to the end of the "New Web Archive..." menu item.
Fixed a bug where Yojimbo would open the Drop Dock when dragging to the edge of the screen if the drop dock was turned off, but the last value of "Open Dock when dragging to" was "Screen Edge".
Fixed a bug where duplicating an encrypted item or a password resulted in a broken copy.
Fixed a typo in the scripting terminology.
Fixed a performance problem where smart groups refreshed overzealously. This could lead to lags or delay when closing standalone editor windows, especially with large data sets and/or a search filter active in the main window.
