Special-Edition Shirt, Reissued Classic Designs, and More
NORTH CHELMSFORD, Mass. – December 4, 2018 – Bare Bones Software today announced the opening of a merchandise store as part of a year-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of the commercial release of BBEdit.
The merch store features an array of wearable items, including a limited-edition 25th anniversary BBEdit T-shirt, a re-issue of the popular classic “It Doesn’t Suck” shirt, fleece and hoodie jackets, workout pants, and an enameled pin of the BBEdit icon. All T-shirts are priced at US$25 to mark the 25th Anniversary.
“BBEdit’s survival for 25 years as a commercial text editor is delightful, but not surprising,” said Guy Kawasaki, chief evangelist of Canva and former chief evangelist of Apple. “BBEdit does one thing really well, and if you need powerful text editing, there is no other choice. Congratulations BBEdit on 25 years in service to the cause of powerful tools for the rest of us.”
“When I first started working at Apple in 1995, one of the first things I noticed was a co-worker wearing a funny shirt: BBEdit. It doesn’t suck,” said Daniel Jalkut, noted industry podcaster and founder of Red Sweater. “Twenty-three years later and it … still doesn’t suck, now more than ever. Here’s to the next 25 years!”
“We started selling BBEdit in 1993 because we had a product of which we could say confidently: ‘It doesn’t suck.’,” said Rich Siegel, founder and CEO of Bare Bones Software, Inc. “Since the early days, our T-shirts with that slogan were one of our most popular products, after BBEdit itself, and there’s been a lot of pent-up demand. So we’re delighted to bring back not only a reissue of the classic design, but also a limited-edition 25th anniversary shirt and a fistful of other goodies.”
