Bare Bones Software Releases BBEdit 15.1
First Feature Update to BBEdit 15 Expands AI Chat Worksheets to Use Claude and Ollama

NORTH CHELMSFORD, Mass. – May 15, 2024 – Bare Bones Software today announced the release and immediate availability of BBEdit® 15.1, the first feature update to the recently released major new version of its professional strength HTML and text editor.

BBEdit 15.1 introduces enhanced and expanded AI Chat worksheets, now including support for Claude and Ollama, on a foundation designed to support services using the OpenAI API model. A new “Decompose Unicode” text transformation further enhances BBEdit’s suite of powerful text manipulation operations; and several new and enhanced preference settings provide additional control as well as organizational and usability improvements.

“Following the uniformly positive reception of the changes we introduced in BBEdit 15.0, we’re excited to unveil BBEdit 15.1,” said Rich Siegel, founder and CEO of Bare Bones Software. “This release expands on the innovative features introduced in our latest major version series, expanding the scope of 15.0’s ChatGPT Worksheets by integrating diverse AI services such as Claude and Ollama. With the capability to add more via OpenAI-compatible APIs, BBEdit 15.1 adapts to the unique needs of our customers, enhancing both flexibility and efficiency. Complemented by improvements such as the ‘Decompose Unicode’ transformation as well as interface refinements, BBEdit continues to set the standard for text editing software.”

BBEdit 15.1 also includes enhancements and refinements to existing features, and fixes for specific reported issues, and is a recommended and free update to all registered customers with BBEdit 15.
