Adds New Live Search and Event-specific Script Attachability Capabilities, Plus Enhancements Such as Browsing Zip Files

BEDFORD, Mass. – Jan. 6, 2011 – Bare Bones Software today announced the release and immediate availability of TextWrangler™ 3.5, a major update to the award-winning text editor.

TextWrangler 3.5 introduces a new in-window Live Search bar that actively searches for text as it is typed and highlights matches in the window’s editing view.

Complementing its long-standing support for attaching scripts to menu commands, TextWrangler 3.5 introduces the ability to attach scripts to more than a dozen specific application and document events, including ‘open’ and ‘save’. TextWrangler 3.5 also includes improvements to its support for Services under Snow Leopard.

TextWrangler’s support for programming and scripting languages is significantly enhanced, with new text folding, as well as updates to the built-in Java, Python, JavaScript, and Ruby language support. Additional improvements include the ability to for directly browse Zip files and Unix “tar” files, and many internal refinements to its performance and user interface.

TextWrangler 3.5 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later, and is fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard™.
