Apple silicon Compatibility

The current shipping versions of our products run natively on Macs powered by M1 (and newer) processors:

We recommend that you use the latest available versions of BBEdit and Yojimbo.

All current versions of our products are 64-bit native and compatible with the requirements of macOS 10.15 and later.

macOS Sonoma (14.x)

Due to bugs and regressions in the initial macOS Sonoma releases, we recommend that you use only macOS 14.3 or later. If you are currently using an older Sonoma release (14.0 – 14.2.1) we recommend that you update to 14.3 or later at the earliest opportunity.

The following versions of our products are supported for use with macOS 14 “Sonoma” (with the above caveat in mind):

  • BBEdit 15.0
  • Yojimbo 4.6.3
  • BBEdit versions prior to 14.6 will not run on macOS Sonoma.
  • TextWrangler is not compatible with macOS Sonoma.

TextWrangler has been sunsetted, and is now part of BBEdit. Learn more here.

If you are using an older version of BBEdit, please update or upgrade as necessary.

The following versions of our products are recommended for use with macOS 12 “Monterey”:

Due to compatibility issues in the OS that we have worked around, please make sure that you are running macOS 12.2.1 or later.

TextWrangler has been sunsetted, and is now part of BBEdit. Learn more here.

If you are using an older version of BBEdit, please update or upgrade as necessary.

macOS High Sierra (10.13)
